The Nyika Media Club an association of journalists in the northern region of Malawi, recently held an interface with Journalism and Development Communication (JDC) students organised by the Department of Communication and Media studies aimed at motivating and inspiring the students.
The Club was established in 2002 with the aim of removing the gap in the media industry ,consisting of over 150 Journalist members across the northern region from different media houses such as MBC , Mibawa , Times tv, Zodiak and many more.
The interface was opened by Chisomo Sumani a fourth year JDC student. Seconded by an opening remarks, by the Head of Department, Innocent Ziba who emphasized the students on taking advantage by learning as much as possible from the journalists.
"We want to build a strong relationship between the Nyika Media Club and our department so that we can help mould the next generation of future journalists," Ziba said.

The chairperson of the Nyika Media Club, Feston Malekezo spoke about the benefits of being a member of the club that , "Joining the Nyika Media Club receiv a you access to experienced journalists from various media houses across the country as well as receiving mentorship and gaining experience.

Malekezo also encouraged the students to maintain a firm grip on the Journalism industry and to strive to keep traditional media relevant in the face of social media.
The club's membership registration period ends on 1 June
and it is open for new members as long as Journalism, Communication is concerned.
