The 2024 Salt Conference, held at Mzuzu University, inspired young people to embrace resilience and reinvention in the face of challenging times.
Under the theme "Ipatse Moto" (Step into the Fire), renowned speakers shared personal stories, motivations, and hope with attendees.
Apostle Caswell Mkanda emphasized the importance of vision and knowledge in national development.
"In the last days, people will have visions... Malawi's 2063 vision is crucial. Youths must embrace their dreams; development begins with knowledgeable individuals," Mkanda said.
Prince Kamzati, a Flood Church member, praised the conference for equipping youths with knowledge to overcome challenges.
"The certificates awarded encourage youths to overcome daily challenges through resilience and reinvention," Kamzati added.
Dali Messiah, Pastor of Mzuzu's Flood Church, highlighted the conference's value in empowering youths with leadership knowledge.
"The conference achieved our church's goal of inviting the upcoming generation to live in the freedom of Jesus," Pastor Messiah said. "By bringing youths together in one place, we filled them with leadership knowledge, enabling them to grow as able leaders and effective servants of Christ."
He added, "The motivations have personally encouraged me, as hearing Wangiwe Kambuzi speak is an inspiration for me, showing that growth is possible if you are intelligent and disciplined. Especially for college students, it's encouraging to know that you can start from somewhere and achieve your goals."
Pastor Messiah also explained the significance of the conference theme:
"If you go back, every Salt Conference has its theme, to catch up with what the youth are doing and going through at that time. That's why this year's theme is 'Ipatse Moto'; to encourage young people and align with resilience instead of running away from the fire. We say 'ipatse moto' – step into the fire, embracing resilience."
The conference will also be held in Lilongwe (September 28) and Zomba (October 5).
