The Lilongwe City Council (LCC) has issued a public notice addressing the concerns raised by residents regarding the recent order for international bus operators to relocate to the Grand Busines Park.
This temporary arrangement aims to improve vehicle parking conditions in the city, particularly for public buses.
Dr. Macloud D.A. Kadam'manja, the Chief Executive Officer of the Lilongwe City Council signed the public notice as the council clarified that no public funds have been spent on this initiative, as the Grand Business Park has been offered to the council at no cost.
This step is part of the city's efforts to maintain order and efficiency in vehicle parking, responding to the increasing issues with buses parking in undesignated areas.
The LCC has been in continuous discussions with international bus owners, especially those whose buses have been contributing to the parking challenges.
The LCC announced that it would address the media on the afternoon of June 24, 2024. The briefing will provide detailed clarifications on the public's concerns and outline the future plans for the international bus terminal.
"Therefore the notice to relocate all international coaches and buses to Grand business park comes after thorough consultations with all relevant stakeholders. " Read the statement.
Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to engage with the council and stay informed about the ongoing developments regarding the international bus depot.
