Komaliza agide Bonanza

By Hastings Yobe

On December 1st 2023, UNILIA’s Kaning’ina campus sports department through a sponsorship from Emanuel Chavura, an out going Fourth year student organised the Komaliza agide Bonanza at Pamanda which is kaning’inas home ground.

The bonanza which was between the senior classes (4th and 3rd) years versus the junior classes (1st and 2nd) years respectfully was a winner takes all match.

The two teams were competing for the 20 thousand prize which came out of Chavura's pocket..

Emanuel Chavura known popularly on campus as Don Manzy who is studying Bachelor's of Accountancy said he thought it wise to sponsor the games as one way to have fun with his fellow students and as a way of spicing up the weekend.

“I just wanted bring fun on campus, I loved the way people were having fun last weekend when we were having the vice principals trophy so I just decided to bring in the bonanza,

Plus the coming weeks will be starting our exams which will be the final exams for us fourth year students so this is also more like a farewell match between finales and the rest of the students,” said Chavura.

John Barry Longwe who was the coach for the senior team said the Bonanza was a good development since it helped his players to stay active and remain in shape.

“The bonanza has helped students to have fun since weekends are mostly boring, so we are thankful for the bonanza,” said Longwe.

Coach for the juniors teams, Patrick Kawonga said that the bonanza will help the head coach of the main UNILIA team to select good players who can represent the school in different competitions and games.

Out going Sports Director, Collins Makwakwa AKA (COSPARO) said the bonanza was more like a fairwell game between the finales and the remaining team as well as him, as he's moving out of office.

“As a sports enthusiast this is a lovely development and will be nice to locate new players for the new students team,

To the new sports director, I would advise that he organise such activities frequently so that he can locate new players that can form a new school team,” said Makwakwa.

The games ended with a 2-0 goal difference, with Michael Majawa (Jawido) the new Sports Director scoring both goals making his team to take the 20 thousand money which was up for grabs.
