The Kaning'ina campus football team has intensified their training with Moyale team ahead of their friendly match against Mwimba College of Agriculture this Saturday at the Agricultural Ground in Mzuzu.
Despite losing a training match 3-2 to Moyale and the K6000 prize, the team remains determined to learn from their mistakes and bounce back stronger. Team captain Stanley Selemani, also known as Dabz, emphasized the importance of thorough preparation and correcting their weaknesses.
"We must prepare thoroughly, depending on today's game, we need to correct our mistakes," he said.
Coach Wanangwa Nyasulu stressed the need for confidence, teamwork, and self-discipline, highlighting that their philosophy is to fully adopt the game plan and gain the upper hand over their opponents.
Although the team lost the training match and the prize money, Coach Nyasulu remains optimistic, emphasizing the importance of civic education and self-determination.
However, one player, who wished to remain anonymous, expressed frustration, saying, "We didn't fight with tooth and nail, and that's why we lost. When some players don't perform well, it affects the rest of us who are trying our best."
Spectator Gibo Mukhuna expressed concerns about the team's performance, stating, "We need to find good strikers with good striking skills. We have the future, and we will win."
Despite the loss, the team remains hopeful for their upcoming match on Saturday. Coach Nyasulu promised, "We will come back stronger with a winning spirit, and UNILIA will shine through in the end."
