Kaning’ina beats visitors

By Hastings Yobe

It was all fun during the sporting games which UNILIA Kaning’ina campus hosted their brothers in academics Ekwendeni health sciences for a sporting fiesta.

The games which had a full package of football, basketball, netball as well as volleyball allowed students from both campuses to showcase their athletic skills while maintaining their spirit of brotherhood through the games.

The games ended with interesting score boards, with basketball ending in 15 to 12 making kanin’ina campus to emerge as winners, in netball, kaning’ina also emerged as winners with the score board appearing 18 to 13 and in volleyball it ended with a draw.

But as the saying goes, “there is no rest for the weary,” Ekwendeni health sciences football team also got smashed 2 goals to nothing resulting to Kaning’ina emerging punishers of the day.

Bahatti Japhat, a health science student doing pharmacy expressed her satisfaction over the games pointing out the competitive spirit from both teams although it did not end very well with their teams.

“all teams from all sports have played well, only that in netball our team lacked the required defensive force to stop attackers from kaning’ina and in football our team failed to target the goal which has cost us a loss,” said Japhat.

Rodgers Mbalame, who was playing as a left back admitted their teams lack of striking force which resulted to their downfall.

“We did not use the chances we had to score unlike our friends from Kaning’ina and that’s why we lost, but all in all the game was okay and exciting,” said Mbalame.

Steve Kwanjana, coach for Kaning’ina, expressed excitement over his teams’ win stressing that this was due to the team spirit that the team showcased and the ability for the players to show up on time for the game.

“we opt for more performances such as this one since we are preparing for bigger games in the future such as the chancellors trophy at Laws campus later this very semester,” said Kwanjana.

Lumbani Msosa, left back player for Kaning’ina said despite the teams win today, the teams technical panel did not do well when it came to substuting players to play in the game.
