FIFA President Hails Tabitha Chawinga as a Global Role Model

Gianni Infantino, the President of FIFA, has praised Malawian footballer Tabitha Chawinga as a role model not just for children in Malawi and Africa, but around the world.

In an Instagram post, Infantino expressed his delight in interacting with Chawinga, whom he described as "one of the best footballers playing the women's game".


"I was very pleased to interact with Tabitha Chawinga... Her beautiful success story starting from Malawi to global recognition through football is inspiring," Infantino said.


Infantino hailed Chawinga's success story, which began in Malawi and has led to global recognition through football.


He attributed her achievements to her "resilience, hard work, talent, and skill", saying that she has proven that "our beautiful game provides an equal platform for everyone to excel".


"We are here to support her and what she represents for women across the globe," Infantino emphasized.


He also looked forward to meeting her again at the first FIFA Women's Club World Cup in 2026, which he believes will be a "fantastic occasion for the world to witness more journeys like hers".


Chawinga's achievements on and off the pitch have made her a beloved figure in Malawi and beyond.


Her dedication to the beautiful game has inspired countless young girls and women to pursue their dreams in football.


"Tabitha Chawinga, I look forward to meeting you again," Infantino concluded.
