United civil servant SACCO orient Nyika Media club on financial literacy

By Taonga Jeka

The United Civil Servants SACCO (UCSSACCO) has encouraged journalists to adopt a savings culture for betterment of their livelihoods.

The remarks were made by UCSSACCO head of operations Francis Kandonga when they engaged journalists under the Nyika Media Club (NMC) in Mzuzu on Friday, 26th April, 2024 on financial literacy.

Kandonga said it is important for journalists to invest the little they are generating rather than living a lavish spending lifestyle.

He said: "We appreciate the importance journalists play in the society through awareness and education, and that is the reason we decided to interact with them on how they can be able to transform their lives through savings and excersing financial prudency which is key to one's economic growth."

Kandonga then promised to engage more members of the club with such interactions.

On his part, chairperson of Nyika Media Club (NMC) Feston Malekezo commended  UCSSACCO for the engagement saying it has enlightened members of the club on financial literacy and how they can develop a savings culture.

"Let me therefore urge fellow journalists to avoid the spending lifestyle on unnecessary things instead to focus on savings and grow financially," said Malekezo.

During the meeting, UCSSACCO also recognized and awarded some of the journalists for their outstanding participation and dedication demonstrated during the previous financial literacy workshop.
