Kaning’ina was filled with excitement when their favorite campus couple, Harold Kamwiyo and Serena Gwamba, were crowned Mr. and Mrs. Kaning’ina last night.
The event was fun, with contestants showcasing their dressing and social skills through fashion and displaying confidence with smiles throughout the event.
Contestants displayed their beautiful and well-built bodies through categories such as introduction attire, sports attire, summer attire, career attire, and dinner attire.
Other winners include First Princess Sibongile Workman Kumwenda, First Prince Tawonga Sibande, Second Princess Ruth Kachala, and Second Prince Bentley Ziba.
Mr. and Miss Kaning’ina received Beerland tickets, Phyzix show tickets, drinking bottles, cash prizes, and T-shirts and caps from TNM. The first and second princes and princesses received cash prizes, drinking bottles, and TNM T-shirts and caps.
The newly crowned Miss Kaning’ina said it was a humbling experience to be chosen as the winner among so many talented individuals and to represent the campus.
“I plan to use my role as Miss Kaning’ina to serve as a positive role model for my fellow students, whether through organizing events or participating in community service activities. I am committed to making a meaningful impact during my time in this position,” said Gwamba.
On the other hand, Mr. Kaning’ina, Harold Kamwiyo, said he was excited about the achievement, mostly because it was unexpected.
“I will use this new position to find ways to promote confidence in my fellow youths who may hesitate to try great things due to lack of confidence. I would also love to thank everyone who supported me during the event, especially my girlfriend and her sister, who played a significant role in preparing me for the occasion,” said Kamwiyo.
Kaning’ina’s Entertainment Director, Prince Mbekeani, said the event was a success, although they faced some problems while organizing it.
“We had trouble finding sponsors for the event, but luckily TNM came to the rescue. I hope that in the future, we can host more programs like these or even better ones,” said Mbekeani.
The weekend was filled with energy as Malawi's very own Telecommunications Network of Malawi sponsored a once-in-a-lifetime social weekend, culminating in the crowning of Mr. and Mrs. Kaning’ina pageantry.
