Musician and social media influencer Kalawe has offered to post bail for Innocent Sengimana, popularly known as "iPhone Daddy" on TikTok. Sengimana was arrested on June 1st for allegedly duping clients out of K5 million by promising to supply them with iPhone 13 gadgets, and failing to deliver despite receiving upfront payments.
Kalawe took to Facebook to express his willingness to help Sengimana, acknowledging his mistakes and hoping for a second chance. "The guy messed up, yes, but he deserves a second chance. I want to pay for his bail and get him out this afternoon. He's only 23 and a talented marketer; he just needs guidance to trust the process," Kalawe wrote.
This move has sparked a lively debate on social media, with some praising Kalawe for his compassion and willingness to help the young man, while others believe that "iPhone Daddy" should face the consequences of his actions.
According to police reports, Sengimana's scheme involved promising iPhone 13 gadgets to his TikTok followers and collecting upfront payments, but failing to deliver the goods. The total amount allegedly duped from victims amounts to K5 million.
Kalawe's gesture has raised questions about the importance of second chances and the role of influencers in supporting young talent. While some argue that Sengimana's actions were unethical and deserving of punishment, others see Kalawe's move as an opportunity for redemption and growth.
