ADMARC Adjusts Maize Purchase Prices

In reponse to the increased  demand for maize, the Aricultural Development and Marketing Corporation (ADMARC) has announced an upward adjustment in maize purchase prices across all its markets from k650 per killograms.

The new prices, which comes  into effect on June 20, 2024, are aimed at ensuring sufficient stock levels and supporting farmers.


According to a memorandum issued by the Director of Operations, the updated Unit Market Purchase price will b  MK 700 per kilogram while for depot bulk purchase Price will be  MK 720 per kilogram.


The memo, dated June 19, 2024, and signed by the director of Operations, emphasizes the necessity for divisional managers and depot supervisors to implement creative strategies to maximize maize purchases without compromising quality.


"With the high demand for maize, you are strongly urged to be as creative as you can to ensure that you buy as much maize as possible but without cutting corners," the memo states.


Management expects that the price increase, coupled with strategic purchasing efforts, will lead to a significant improvement in the quantities of maize acquired.


Additionally, the memo indicates that depot bulk purchases will commence immediately, with a minimum purchase quantity set at 10 metric tons. Funds have been allocated to all depots to facilitate these bulk purchases.


The memorandum also calls for the necccessary arrangements to open social markets proposed for commodity purchases, with an approved list attached to the communication.
