The University of Malawi will confer an Honorary Doctorate of Philosophy in International Affairs and Diplomacy on His Excellency Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, President of the Republic of Mozambique, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to international diplomacy.
The ceremony will take place on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at the university's Great Hall in Zomba, and will be presided over by the Chancellor of the University of Malawi, Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, who is also the President of the Republic of Malawi.
According to an official announcement from the University Registrar, Mr. Martin Matululu, this honorary degree acknowledges President Nyusi's significant efforts in fostering international cooperation and diplomacy among nations.
President Nyusi, who has been at the helm of Mozambique since 2014 and was re-elected in 2019, has received similar honors from Mexico and Portugal for his distinguished service.
The University of Malawi's recognition of President Nyusi's achievements serves as a testament to his commitment to promoting peace and understanding among nations.
